In Accra This October? Make AAFF Part of Your Return

If you will be in Ghana this October, make space for more than sightseeing and appointments. Make space for the stories Black filmmakers are telling about identity, resistance, return, and rebuilding.

The Abibitumi Abibifahodie Film Festival is scheduled for October 16–18, 2026. Its current official listing describes online screenings together with an in-person Gala and Awards gathering in Accra, giving both local and international audiences a route into the festival.

Entries are now closed, so attention shifts from submitting work to encountering it. The theme, Kemet for the Kemetyu: At Home and Abroad, is especially relevant for repatriates: what does home require from those who return, and how can film move beyond observation into action?

Follow the official AAFF site for the developing program and access details. Add October 16–18 to your Ghana calendar, and use Repatriate to Ghana for the practical work around your journey.
