The Abibitumi Abibifahodie Film Festival 2026 runs October 16–18 as a hybrid gathering connecting Accra with online audiences.

For visitors and new residents, film can reveal dimensions of Ghana and the wider Black world that do not appear in relocation checklists. A documentary can preserve testimony. A short film can open a difficult conversation. Student work can show how emerging creators understand the future. Animation and AI-infused media can demonstrate how new tools are being claimed for our own cultural purposes.

AAFF brings those forms into one Black-centered space. The program includes feature films, shorts, student films, documentaries, animation, and other media work from across Abibiman and the diaspora. You do not need to be a filmmaker to participate meaningfully. Audiences help create the festival through the questions they ask, the work they support, and the relationships they carry forward after a screening ends.

The hybrid structure is especially useful for families and networks divided across countries. One person can attend from Accra while relatives or collaborators join online, giving the festival a reach beyond a single venue or travel itinerary.
